Auli is perched high at an elevation covering 2,519 m to 3,050 m. It is situated in the Garhwal region, in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. By Rail:<\/strong> Nearest\nrail-station is Rishikesh which is 264 km away from Auli. It is a small station\nso Express trains doesn\u2019t have any halt here but it is well connected to the\nmajor stations of India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By Road:<\/strong>\nWell-connected roads link Auli to other major destinations of Uttarakhand like\nRishikesh, Haridwar, Rudraprayag, Karnaprayag, Ukhimath, Chamoli etc. Buses and\ntaxis regularly ply on these roads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By Cable Car:<\/strong> The\ncable cars provide another way of transport from Joshimath to Auli. In winters,\nit is the only means of transport from Joshimath to Auli as the roads get\ncovered in snow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The weather is moderately cold with the winter temperature\nvarying from -4 degrees to 10 degrees Celsius and the summer temperature\nranging between 7 degrees to 18 degrees Celsius. December to February remains\nvery cold and requires heavy woolens for outdoor activities. It is the best\ntime for skiing and other winter sports. The summer, monsoon and pre-winter are\ngood times for honeymoon couples. The most notable is the winter game ceremony that is held\nduring the months of February and March. Auli even played the host of the first\nSAF winter games in 2011.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shopping: Auli does not offer much regarding shopping as it\nis more of an adventure spot. Artifacts, souvenirs, woolens etc. can be found\nin Joshimath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Typical Garhwali cuisine comprising of mainly vegetarian\nfare like dals, vegetables, rice and chapatti. Local delicacies include Bal\nMithai and Kachmauli.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
