Shower, nope. Make a healthy meal, probably not gonna happen. And work? Forget about it. These days can be tough. Especially when you know you have so much to do (which might be why you aren\u2019t actually motivated, but more on that later). <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We know we have felt this slump before. So we decided to do a bit of research and find out ways to overcome this lack of motivation and kick your productivity into high gear. <\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Prioritization is your friend. <\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While there are plenty of apps out there to help you understand your priorities. Sometimes the best way to keep track of what you need to do is the old fashioned way: a pen and some paper. In the morning simply write down three to four high priority activities or tasks you need to get done. This list can include work or personal things (like showering). Having a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fastcompany.com\/3063392\/how-writing-to-do-lists-helps-your-brain-even-when-you-dont-comple\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">list<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will help you keep going during the day since you know exactly what needs to get done. Plus, it will help make remembering all the things you need to do easier!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-316 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nodeskproject.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/arm-desk-hand-58457.jpg\" alt=\"productivity\" width=\"640\" height=\"426\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nomadize.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/arm-desk-hand-58457.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.nomadize.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/arm-desk-hand-58457-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><b>Know when you are on fire.<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No we aren\u2019t talking about on actual fire. We mean when are you most <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/thrive-global\/this-simple-method-can-help-you-figure-out-your-most-productive-time-of-day-378c077fd67d\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">productive<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Some people are morning people, some work better at night. If you know when all your pistons are firing it will be easier to plan to get the harder tasks done then. So for example, if you feel like Superman right around 8 AM then knock out the tougher, longer tasks around that time. The same goes for the other way around. If you know by 3:00 pm your motivation or drive starts to lag, then wait and do the fun or easier tasks then. Knowing when you are at your best is key to getting things done and not feeling overwhelmed. <\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Take some me time. <\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is crazy to think that you will be \u201con\u201d 100 percent of the day. This is just not how humans work. So instead of trying to fight evolution and human characteristics (always a losing battle) instead simply take a couple breaks throughout the day. This can be shorter breaks, like 5 minutes after every 25 minutes of work, which is called the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lifehacker.com\/productivity-101-a-primer-to-the-pomodoro-technique-1598992730\">Pomodoro Technique.<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0Or longer breaks, like every 52 minutes take a 17 minute break for yourself (this is what many social scientists recommend). Simply do what works best for you. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During these breaks, stop looking at a screen. So get up from your desk and either do a quick walk around, make some coffee, or tea or just stretch. Anything to break up the monotony of staring at a computer screen (your eyes will thank you).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-317 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nodeskproject.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/aerial-background-barista-1059123.jpg\" alt=\"productivity\" width=\"640\" height=\"384\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nomadize.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/aerial-background-barista-1059123.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.nomadize.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/aerial-background-barista-1059123-300x180.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><b>Or break a sweat.<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Going off that idea of taking a break. It sometimes might even be more effective to take a longer break, say 45 minutes to an hour, and break a sweat. Working out during the workday will help you be more alert and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lifehacker.com\/5885948\/try-exercising-during-the-middle-of-the-day-for-an-energy-and-productivity-boost\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">focused <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">once you get back to your computer. Meaning it will likely help your productivity and make you a better worker. Which is a win for everyone.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While it can seem like such a chore to change into work clothes. And then actually get all sweaty, only to come back an hour later and sit at your desk (probably still a little sweaty). The health and productivity benefits probably outweigh the smell. But if you are really not feeling it, then do less intensive exercise, like yoga. <\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Quit while ahead.<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While this might be the hardest task of all, sometimes (if not all the time) it is important to stop working while on a high note. This means once you finish all of the big tasks &#8212; the three or four things on your list &#8212; call it a day. Don\u2019t keep working on tasks if you are starting to feel shot. Instead, leave those for the next day, and put them on the top of the list. This will help you keep your motivation going throughout the week. Instead of feeling burnt out early on (say on Monday or Tuesday). <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is especially, especially important when you are sacrificing sleep for work, which is never a good idea. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/kevinkruse\/2016\/12\/26\/the-single-best-way-to-stay-motivated-every-single-day\/#16fd09ac7d94\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sleep<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is almost always the most important piece to staying motivated.
